In October 1972, the late James R. Jones was called to the ministry and began preaching the streets of Baltimore wherever he could work for the Lord. In 1975, he was ordained by the late Bishop Carl Lyles and became Pastor of the Community Church of Christ. As the membership began to grow, searching for a new edifice was in store.
The church moved to 1501 N. Eden Street, Baltimore, MD. God gave him a vision to build a new edifice in seven years. The vision was fulfilled in March 1983. Along with Pastor Jones and the members, they marched from 1501 Eden to 1002 Somerset Street,
Baltimore, MD praising and magnifying GOD.
In 1985, Pastor Jones was elevated to Bishop and under his leadership the Community Christian Academy College Institute di Seminary was established in 1986. In March 1999, he was consecrated to Apostle.
In 2005, as retirement was in view, with God's guidance, Apostle Jones appointed Elder Luther C. Moore as Junior Pastor to be his successor. Elder Moore continued the work that was appointed to him.
In 2007 He was consecrated to the office of Bishop. Following Apostle Jones passing in by Bishop Moore was installed as Senior Pastor of the Community Church of Christ
